Scale This Recipe

BatchCraft scales the source material with the recipe so your target 25 mg per serving stays stable. If you keep the original 1x source amount and only stretch the tray, per-serving strength changes fast.

Ingredients
- 500ml high-proof alcohol (Everclear or similar, 60%+ ABV)
- Source material (amount calculated by BatchCraft)
- Mason jar with tight-fitting lid
- Cheesecloth and coffee filter
- Dark dropper bottles for storage
How to Make It
- 1Decarboxylate: Preheat oven to 115°C / 240°F. Break source material into small pieces, spread on parchment, bake 35-40 minutes.
- 2Combine: Place decarbed material in a mason jar. Pour alcohol over it until fully submerged.
- 3Extract: Seal jar tightly. Store in a cool, dark place for 2-4 weeks, shaking vigorously once daily.
- 4Strain: Filter through cheesecloth first, then through a coffee filter for clarity. Squeeze gently.
- 5Bottle: Transfer to dark dropper bottles. Label with potency per dropper, date, and batch info.
Pro Tips
- ★Higher proof alcohol extracts more efficiently — aim for 60%+ ABV (120+ proof).
- ★The freezer quick-wash method (3-5 min shake) works but yields less than the traditional 2-4 week soak.
- ★Store finished tincture away from light and heat — a dark cupboard extends shelf life to 1-2 years.
Serving Ideas
Place under the tongue for fastest absorption, add to tea or juice, or use in cocktail recipes. Start with half a dose if uncertain.
Substitutions
No Double boiler? Use Slow cooker on low
Set to low/warm for 2-4 hours, stir occasionally
No Double boiler? Use Mason jar in simmering water
Finger-tight lid, simmer for 2-3 hours
No Cheesecloth? Use French press
Pour infusion into French press and plunge to strain
No Cheesecloth? Use Fine mesh strainer + coffee filter
Slower but effective
Switch alcohol to glycerin
Flavor: Sweeter and softer with much less harshness.
Potency handling: Usually weaker extraction and slower uptake than high-proof alcohol.
Texture: Thicker liquid with easier direct use but lower strength ceiling.
Useful for alcohol-free tinctures if you accept lower extraction efficiency.
